Climate change represents one of humanity’s greatest challenges. To counteract global warming and guarantee economic growth and prosperity in the future, energy must be generated and utilized in an environmentally and climate friendly way.

Siemens is committed to a sustainable future for society, both in the environmental and energy-saving standards that it practices and in the technologies that it provides to customers. The company holds a total of some 30,000 patents of environmental and climate-relevant solutions and invests over €2 billion a year globally in related research and development.

Siemens’ environmental portfolio covering the entire energy chain - from power generation, power transmission to energy applications and energy-saving services in different industries, not only provides many answers to the current energy and growth challenges but also constitutes a triple win. Customers win because they can lower energy cost while improving productivity to make their business more profitable. Society wins because environmental care and living standards are improved. And Siemens wins because we can help tap attractive markets and achieve profitable growth.

In China, the company announced in November 2007 to inject half of its 10 billion RMB mid-term investments in innovative energy-efficient and environmentally friendly technologies and solutions so as to further expand its leading position in this field.
